Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures: Season 2: Story 24: The Helpful Harvester

What is it ? : The Young Jedi are using the force to build a barn, afterwards they get invited to a feast, and Nubs is invited to gather some mushrooms for the feast. Nubs along with two Twi'leks head inside a cave, but a storm blows down a tree blocking the entrance and trapping them.
He calls on Lys and Kai for help on his comlink, but the villagers don't have tools capable of cutting through the tree. So Kai has an idea, and the two travel to Andraven to ask for Raxlo's help with his harvester. Raxlo isn't keen on the idea, as it will take his harvester away from the more important to him task of making him profit. But the two manage to convince him to try.
Back at the cave, the Harvesters drill overheats trying to cut through the tree, so Raxlo aborts, but they spot a mole like creature, so he tunnels through the ground instead.
They get into the cave, and Raxlo's interest is instantly drawn to the mushrooms which he believes he can sell for a profit, but as he tries to pull one free from the wall, it causes the cave to begin to collapse, crushing his harvester.
Upset by this, and wondering why helping people has hurt him, he wanders off discovering an underground river. He comes up with a plan to use parts of his harvester to create a raft so they can follow the river to where he can see daylight.
They do this, but once on the river the rapid flow and jagged rocks cause the raft to become trapped, and Nubs is knocked off into the water, Raxlo leaps into the water and rescues Nubs, and then guides the rest to work together to get them out of the caves.
Back at the village, the villagers offer to build Raxlo a new Harvester in payment for his rescue work, which makes him very happy indeed. . . .

High Points : Although it's totally irrelevant, I find the idea of Raxlo, a bird like alien, being an excellent swimmer to be somewhat amusing. But there's not much else to like about this one, it's competently done, but doesn't bring anything new to the series, even seemingly taking a step back.

Low Points : I say taking a step back, because just last story, Raxlo was helping the Young Jedi, acting like a hero, but now he's kind of back to his profit seeking desires. It's like the writers have forgotten about the character development that has been done, which is sad as it's actually something that YJA is usually good at.
And what is it in this episode about plants being incredibly strong. The tree that collapses over the entrance isn't just too tough for the villagers and their tools, but also for Raxlo's harvester which can tunnel through rock. And then when inside the cave, pulling one of the mushrooms causes the entire cave to shake, so not only is Raxlo apparently incredibly strong, but the mushrooms roots are stronger than rock!

So what do you really think ? : Didn't really enjoy this episode, it's so derivative of previous episodes, repeating ground we'd already covered, which is especially grievous because the ground was covered in the previous story.
I also have to question why Raxlo's Harvester has changed radically since the previous story, now being a legged walker, rather than on tracks as it was before?

Final Words : And the message of this story seems to be, that good deeds will be rewarded. Which is nice, although the idea that some random villagers who need Jedi help to build a barn will be able to build a replacement for Raxlo's space travelling Harvester seems to stretch credibility.
