ASN-121 (Zam Wessells ASN courier droid) | Hellbringer Hotsuit | Laser Designator | Slave 1 (as of Empire Strikes Back) |
What is it ? : At his home, Brander Lawson and his son speak with Devon Izara and Eeko-Dio Daki, Lawson speaks with Daki, saying that the Jedi have put him and his son at risk, but Daki says the Jedi are in the same danger. Meanwhile Devon and Rylee speak, he mentions his sports team, and Devon comments they have had very different upbringings.
The door gets cut open by a lightsaber, and Inquisitor Marrok bursts in, Daki holds him back while the others flee, and they fight their way up to the roof, where they commandeer a LAAT/i.
They flee but are chased by other LAAT/i's until they are shot down.
In the police station, Two Boots defends the Empires actions, saying that his fellow officers will realise he did the right thing, when an arrest comes up for Captain Lawson, wanted for treason, he also berates Two Boots for his footwear which is unauthorised, telling him to remove them.
The fugitives head for Rheena Sul's nightclub, where Lawson asks her to help them find a way off Janix. She is hesitant, as are the Jedi hesitant to trust her, but Lawson explains that he and her saved each others lives. But Stormtroopers arrive at the club, and Rheena begins fighting with them when they restrain her as she tries to distract them, leading to the fugitives fighting their way out of the club.
They get separated, and Devon and Rylee reach a train station, but Inquisitor Marrok arrives. Devon fights him as they board cargo carriages of a train, but he outclasses her in lightsaber combat, until Maul arrives and helps fight off the Inquisitor, and Devon cuts the link between their carriages and Marrok is left behind.
Devon turns on Maul, but he deactivates his Lightsaber and tells her that she has now met their true enemy.
Marrok returns to the Star Destroyer and speaks to an unseen figure, confirming Maul's presence, and telling them that Maul is in league with two Jedi, and asking for further instruction. . . .
High Points : While it all looks great, there were scenes in the dark streets and corridors of Janix where the glows of lightsabers and blaster bolts just look amazing, one particular overhead scene, as the blaster bolts shoot down a passageway and can be seen illuminating the passage as they travel, looked just great.
Low Points : So how did the Inquisitor know that the Jedi would hide out at Lawson's home? It's not something that they'd planned, and he read from Lawson's mind during the interrogation, he just turns up. If the Jedi hadn't gone there, was he always planning to cut his way in through the door, or would he have hung around outside waiting for a while?
So what do you really think ? : As commented before, I found the storyline with Brander Lawson to be more interesting than that of Maul, a story of a low level character making big differences at a small level really appealed, rather than a high level character making no difference as we already know how it all turns out. But they seem to be snatching it all away to make it a group of characters clustered around Maul. If looks as if he's going to get a gang of random characters over the rest of this season. I suppose we knew he was going to lose his gang, so it'll be fairly interesting to see that it was the Empire that did this, rather than Kenobi as I always suspected.
Final Words : So why did they make 10 half hour episodes, and release them 2 a week, rather than make 5 one hour episodes, or were they desperate for the extra few seconds of "Previously" that they stick on the front of each episode?
