What is it ? : Aboard the communications array in the Carreras system the supervisor reports to the governor, reporting of the odd behaviour of Yalta Val the Imperial Knight in charge of the project. But they decide to finish the project then place a formal complaint, however they feel the station beginning to move and find out it's under orders of Yalta Val.
Meanwhile Ania and her team are tractor beamed aboard the patrol vessel that caught them at the end of the last issue, their vessel is breached by a horde of small droids, which force them out of the ship where the guards catch and stun them.
The Guards report to Yalta Val that they've been captured, and he orders that the Imperial Knight be brought to him, and the rest killed. But the governor objects, saying they'll get a fair trial, but he Force Chokes her into submission.
Ania and Sauk awaken in jail cells, and Ania blames herself for them getting caught. However Jao Assam is being held elsewhere in a stasis beam, he is interrogated by the fake Yalta Val, who asks him if he thinks that supervising construction projects is the job for Imperial Knights when there are still Sith out in the galaxy, and Assam realises that this Sith is out to kill the rest of the Sith are restore the rule of two. But the Governor watches over a security hologram.
In the cells Sauk realises that the droids co-ordinates were wrong, because the planet they were searching for (where the real Yalta Val was captured and is presumably being held) is moving, not in orbit but free of a star.
The governor frees Jao Assam, giving him his lightsaber, and asking him to deal with the fake Yalta Val, but he asks for his friends to be freed, which the governor agrees to.
He frees Sauk and Ania, and AG-37 is reactivated and they head back to AG-37's ship, but spot the fake Yalta Val leaving in a ship, Assam suggests restraint as if they can rescue the real Yalta Val then it'll be two Imperial Knights against one Sith, but impulsively Ania fires on the ship destroying it, but the fake Yalta Val leaps clear of the explosion.
Jao fights the Sith, slashing him across the face, but in return the Sith uses the force to cause two sharp spears of wreckage from his ship to stab through Jao's side, as the Sith boards a vessel and flies away leaving them behind. . . .
High Points : So we're starting to see the plot of the Sith here, to restore the rule of two, but how he intends to do this isn't yet clear. But it does make for an interesting story, where the rest of the Sith have gone into hiding, planning to use subterfuge to regain their power and influence, this one wants to aggravate the Imperial Knights into action to destroy his rivals.
Sauk also continues to grow on me, a technical genius, who figures things out, but really isn't capable in combat. It'll be really interesting to see if they use this to get him to think his way round problems in the future, or if he just relies on the others to protect him.
Low Points : So, the droids that they use to really easily overpower an Imperial Knight, an Assassin Droid and Ania and Sauk, they don't think of turning on the fake Yalta Val who they've now discovered is a Sith. Instead freeing Jao Assam. . .
But if your droids can beat Jao Assam plus others, then either they can also beat the Sith, or Jao Assam can't beat him.
The droids are an interesting idea, promptly forgotten about, and I kind of doubt they'll ever be seen again.
So what do you really think ? : I'm continuing to enjoy this story, it's handled well, moves along quickly, and the characters all have motivations we can understand and therefore understand their actions and decisions. While some secrets are still hidden, the reason that this Sith wants to restore the rule of two (especially after forgetting the rule of two allowed Darth Krayt to conquer the galaxy), and even why AG-37 is so different from other Assassin Droids and wants to help Ania, but we know enough and these details are there to keep some mystery for the future.
Final Words : Something that is becoming apparent to me is the amount of action in this series, far more than the older Legacy series. Many pages are used to detail out combat and action scenes, which makes me sometime summarise many pages in a single sentence. This isn't a problem, just a noticeable difference to how the Legacy era was handled previously.
