I love finding out the details of characters as I go through Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope, reaching the "C"s. Today we've got two members of the Modal Nodes, one of whom is an ex-mercenary, and we've got one of the Stormtroopers that stop Obi-Wan and Luke, who turns out to be a Clone. Anyway, today we've added Lirin Carn (Bith Musician/Mercenary), Chief Siward Cass (Human Imperial Officer), Nalan Cheel (Bith Musician), Shann Childsen (Human Imperial Officer), & Crag (Clone Imperial Stormtrooper) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.

And the rest of the "B"s from Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope, and today we've added Danz Borin (Human Pilot/Bounty Hunter), BoShek (Human Smuggler/Tech), John D. Branon (Human Rebel Pilot), Ront Byrnloo (Human Thug), & Boelo (Human Thug) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.
One of the things I really love about doing these completionist efforts towards the movies is finding out the names and backgrounds of minor characters which have large effects on the movies. So today we've got the guy who introduces Obi-Wan to Chewbacca, and the guy who sits next to Luke during the Rebel briefing. Both really minor roles, but ones burned into my memory from watching this movie over and over again throughout my life.

And we're onto the long trek through all of the characters in Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope, and today, starting at the beginning, we've added 1047 (Imperial Sandtrooper Sergeant), 2X-3KPR (KPR Servant Droid), 2X-7KPR (KPR Servant Droid), 3B6-RA-7 (Arakyd RA7 Droid), 5D6-RA-7 (Arakyd RA7 Droid), & 6Y-2KPR (KPR Servant Droid) to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.

In the past I've avoided doing characters which were already covered by the West End Games Books, but I think this time I'll cover those characters including the main heroes, to ensure each has their own inclusion on the site. While Han, Chewie and the Droids I don't think change much through the movies, Luke does grow, and to a lesser degree so does Leia, so I may include versions of some of them as I move onto The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi as well.

A bunch more equipment and weapons from Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope, I think this finishes these off and I'll move onto another section tomorrow. But today we've added Droid Caller, Pretormin Environmental GX-8 Moisture Vaporator, Bandfill, Dorenian Beshniquel, Fanfar, Kloo horn, Ommni box, MicroThrust Processors OrC-19 Com-Scan Integrator Console, & Vehicle Maintenance Energizer to the Star Wars D/6 Equipment Section, & Gaderffii stick, & Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc.         Starting on the vehicles from Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope, today mainly we've got a bunch of speeders from Mos Eisley. These are new to the site, although were covered in various official West End Games Sourcebooks, and I've used those stats as a starting point, but have updated where information is available from more recent sources such as Visual Guides, etc. Today we've added Mobquet Swoops and Speeders A-1 Deluxe Floater, Ubrikkian Industries 9000 Landspeeder, SoroSuub X-34 Landspeeder, Rebel personnel carrier, & Bespin Motors Void Spider TX-3 Air Taxi to the Star Wars D/6 Vehicles Section of the Site.

So a bunch more species from Star Wars: Episode 4: A New Hope, especially the cantina. Today we've added Givin, Gotal, Hutt, Kubaz, Lamproid, & Mantellian Savrip to the Star Wars D/6 Species section of the site.
Among these are the Florn Lamproids, which I have an existing version of on the site, which is constantly blocked by Google Ads, as containing shocking content (along with the Rancor). We'll see if the new version also gets this block?

05/April/2022 Posted by Freddy

Okay, so I'm back and somewhat healthy, and even though it's late in the day I'm starting my completionist efforts with Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. And today I'm starting with some of the different species from the movie, as the cantina scene is packed with loads of interesting species.
Now I'm aware a bunch of these were covered in the original West End Games books, but my thoughts are some of them were terribly balanced, so I've made an effort to balance them out a bit more with everyone getting pretty much the same amount of Attributes. So today I've added the Anzati, Bimm, Brizzit, Defel, Devaronian, & Duros to the Star Wars D/6 Species Section of the Site.
The Anzati aren't from anything offical beyond an issue of Star Wars Gamer, and REUP, but are a mess of balance issues, having 14D attribute dice (+2D above everyone else), virtual immortality, the ability to permanently drain attribute dice from victims, a bonus to tracking, an effect mind ability, a bonus to stealth, and higher attribute maximums across the board, without any disadvantage. In an attempt to balance this, I've given them a whopper of a disadvantage, as their background mentions that they have difficulty becoming experts at anything as they just lose interest. So they now stand pretty much a 50/50 chance of just losing their experience when attempting to spend it. I thought this was an interesting way of dealing with a potentially overpowered race, however perhaps this is fixing the problem at the wrong end, as they will begin play extremely powerful, and be penalised as time goes on. Let me know your thoughts about this, or whether I should have just lowered their abilities to bring them into balance that way?

There's some really interesting races to cover in A New Hope, and I've been really enthused while reading up on them, hope I can do them justice.

01/April/2022 Posted by Freddy

For april fools I prefer doing something silly rather than a cruel trick on my visitors, so today I've decided to cover the characters from the ever wonderful Peter Serafinowicz's Darth Vader in Love sketch, from his tv show a decade or so back.
Now, as most of you know, Peter Serafinowicz was the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode One: The Phantom Menace, and is a massively funny comedian as well. But this sketch has another weird connection to the movies, Commander Larkins boyfriend, Chris, is played by Paul Putner, who also played the Imperial Officer who protects the vault containing the Death Star plans in Rogue One (Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor use his hand to unlock the vault, which K2SO takes over his station).
So today we present, Commander Ada Larkin (Near Human Imperial Officer), her boyfriend, Chris {Putna} (Human Imperial Technician), and from Rogue One, Lieutenant Milton Putna (Human Imperial Officer), all of which are added to the Star Wars D/6 Character Section.

Now, I has intended to return to normal operation from tomorrow, but I've been absolutely floored by the Flu for the last week, so it may take me a couple more days to get back into the swing of things.
