Well, the last bunch from Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. Today we've added Catarine Towani, Cindel Towani, Jeremitt Towani, Mace Towani and Wicket Wystri Warrick to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.

Although there will be the usual RetroRPG video tomorrow, that's us for 2018. And it's been a pretty good year, we've had three of the busiest months the site has ever had this year (January, October and November), we passed the 5,000 Stats mark (up to 5516 at time of writing), we finished reviewing and Stat'ing Clone Wars, Rebels, and began the same with Marvel Star Wars. And we released Solo: as a beginners version of D6, as well as working on BeyondD6.
Many, many thanks to all of our visitors, to everyone who contributed stats over the past year, everyone who got in touch with kind words, and to everyone who has joined in in the comments sections. It is all very much appreciated.
Have yourselves a great New Year, and we'll see you in 2019, for year 17 of RPGGamer.

Shocking Content

A wee update on what's been going on, and what's going to be going on here.

Plus

SHOCKING CONTENT

Or at least that's what Google thinks. They've restricted ad serving to one page on RPGGamer, and here I dare to show you the content that's considered so shocking that no advertiser would dare want their products advertised on.

So, here's another bunch of stats from, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, today we've got some of the characters. We've added Noa Briqualon, Charal, Teek, and Terak to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.

So, tomorrow I'll probably do the Towani family, with just the Ewoks themselves to finish off before New Year, when we'll resume working our way through the Marvel Star Wars Comics.

Well, today we do the first bunch of updates based on the subject of the review we put up on Christmas Eve, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. Today we've added the Condor dragon and Horse to the Star Wars D/6 Creatures Section, Noa Briqualons starship to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section, and Sanyassans and Teeks to the Star Wars D/6 Species Section of the Site.

Tomorrow we'll be back with the characters from the movie, or at least some of them.

Merry Christmas

I hope you all have a great day with your loved ones, or wherever you find yourselves this Christmas.

A tradition for me and my son is that on Christmas eve I sit last thing before he goes to bed, and I read him the below.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Merry Christmas

Retro RPG: Battlelords of the 23rd Century

Today I'm looking at the 3rd edition of Battlelords of the 23rd Century, released only a year after the 1st and 2nd editions, and with the 4th edition following a year later and 5th edition a year after that, it's set in the year 2279 where the players are mercenaries (called Battlelords in this setting) of one of 12 different and very interesting species.
It's sci-fi mercenaries, with an interesting amount of background.

A bunch of additions to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 17: Crucible. Today we've added, Biggs Darklighter, Windy Starkiller, Camie Loneozner, Laze -Fixer- Loneozner & Deacon to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section, the Incom Corporation T-16 skyhopper to the Star Wars D/6 Vehicles Section and the Sand bat to the Star Wars D/6 Creatures Section of the Site.

Since it's Christmas in a few days, I'll be taking a break from the Marvel Comics for a wee while, but I'll have a wee treat for you over the Christmas period. Last Year it was the Star Wars Holiday Special, I wonder what I can find for you to delight in this year?

Only one addition to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 15: Star Duel. The comics aren't turning out to be the treasure trove of new content they first appeared to be, but that may just be this particular story. Today we've added Crimson Jacks battlecruiser to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section of the site.
Now, this is an update of an older set of stats I put on the site years ago, and defended recently. However, looking at the stats I put up at that time, and re-reading the comics, I've scaled the vessel back significantly, and put in some comments to help a GamesMaster run the ship more in line with how it appears in the comics. This isn't a fully crewed battlecruiser, this is an older model, abandoned by the Empire, and used by a group of pirates. They operate what systems they can, barely managing to muster a skeleton crew for the massive vessel, so for example, they leave most of the ships weapons un-manned, using fighters instead, but could man the guns if they required, but this would leave the ship virtually incapable of movement and no-one available to man the fighters.
Anyway, that's just my thoughts, let me know what your thoughts are.

Retro RPG: Gamma World

This is the 1992 Fourth Edition release of TSR's science fantasy role-playing game, originally designed by James M. Ward and Gary Jaquet, and first published by TSR in 1978.
Gamma World takes place in the mid-25th century, more than a century after a second nuclear war had destroyed human civilization.
Gamma World is a chaotic, dangerous environment that little resembles pre-apocalyptic Earth. The weapons unleashed during the final war were strong enough to alter coastlines, level cities, and leave large areas of land lethally radioactive. These future weapons bathed the surviving life of Earth in unspecified forms of radiation and biochemical agents, producing widespread, permanent mutations among humans, animals, and plants. As a result, fantastic mutations such as extra limbs, super strength, and psychic powers are relatively common. (Random tables of such improbable mutations are a hallmark of every edition of Gamma World.) Many animals and plants are sentient, semi-civilized species competing with surviving humans. Both humans and non-humans have lost most knowledge of the pre-war humans, whom Gamma World's inhabitants refer to as "the Ancients". The only group with significant knowledge of the Ancients are isolated robots and other artificial intelligences that survived the war—though these machines tend to be damaged, in ill-repair, or hostile to organic beings.
It's all a bit "Fallout", but long before Fallout was released.

Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 11: Station Theta Black

Well, the last episode of Resistance has broadcast this year, so here it is reviewed in all it's glory, Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 11: Station Theta Black. Now as usual, SPOILERS, so don't read if you don't want it spoiled, but the non spoilery, TLDR version of the review is just "Meh". I'm afraid that's all the reaction it deserves, it's not good or bad, it's just a bit bland.

Retro RPG: Mutant Chronicles

Originally published in 1993 and translated from Swedish, Mutant Chronicles is a Sci-Fi Role Playing Game where humanity has unleashed demonic creatures known as the Dark Legion which threaten the entire solar system.
Competing Corporations must work together to defend the species, while continuing their rivalries. It's all a bit Doom to be honest.

Well, just one addition to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 11: Star Search!. It was difficult to find much to do today, since most of the issue is set aboard Crimson Jack's Starcruiser, and we'd already done that years ago, and we'd done Crimson Jack and Jolli last week, so I'm afraid the only addition today is Drexel to the Star Wars Planets & Places Section of the Site. Some days are just like that.

Only a single addition to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 10: Behemoth from the World Below. Today we've added, the Behemoth from the World Below to the Star Wars D/6 Creatures Section of the Site.

Freddy

It was pointed out to me in the comments that I'd missed the High-hound's, when I was doing Marvel Star Wars Issue 9: Showdown on a Wasteland World!. So, I've corrected that omission today.

Top Five Worst Episodes of Star Wars Rebels

After covering the top 5 episodes of Star Wars Rebels last week, its the top 5 worst episodes.
However, we really liked Rebels, so it's a matter of selecting those episodes which aren't so great, but are still pretty good, which doesn't roll off the tongue so easy, so Worst is what we're calling it.

Let us know if there's an episode you think that is worse and we've missed it.

A few updates to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 9: Showdown on a Wasteland World!. Today we've added, Warto to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section, Lepus carnivorus (Lepi) to the Star Wars D/6 Races Section, Modifed Peregrine-340 airspeeder to the Star Wars D/6 Vehicles Section, and Scout ship (Luke Skywalkers) to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section.

If I ever have time (after I potentially create Clone Wars and Rebels sourcebooks), I'd love to do a Marvel Star Wars Sourcebook, telling some of the tales and providing stat's in broken down sections (so instead of the way I've done it in the Solo: A Star Wars Story Sourcebook, with Equipment, Starships, Characters, etc in their own sections. Telling The story of Aduba-3, but having the relevant stat's embedded within.)

Oh, well, I've far too many projects on to complete that at the moment, so I can but dream.

Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 10: Secrets and Holograms

Well, the latest review of Resistance is now up, Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 10: Secrets and Holograms. The spoiler free, TLDR version of the review is that it is definitely a better episode, and it actually seemed to last longer than usual as well. If they can have stories of this standard, then Resistance isn't going to be a complete disaster after all.

Wow the comics continue to prove a massive treasure trove of stats, so another bumper crop all based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 8: Eight for Aduba 3. Today we've added Serji-X Arrogantus, Jimm Doshun (the Starkiller Kid), Effie (FE-9Q), Hedji, Amaiza Foxtrain, Don-Wan Kihotay and my absolute favourite, Jaxxon all added to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.

I know Jaxxon is rated online as one of the worst characters in the Star Wars universe, but I'm afraid to the 6 year old me who read these comics in 1977, Jaxxon was a wise cracking, gun toting, ass kicking giant green rabbit, and I thought he was cool. And to tell the truth, there's not a lot to change my opinion. For they play the character fairly straight, and if Chewbacca can be a giant dog alien, then why not a bright green rabbit alien.

Retro RPG: MechWarrior

MechWarrior is set in the fictional BattleTech universe in which players can assume the roles of MechWarriors (BattleMech pilots) or other individuals in the 31st century.
While having an interesting background, and being hooked into the BattleTech game, it doesn't seem to have a lot of purpose or direction apart from just filling in what you're pilots do between getting in their Mechs and smashing the hell out of other Mechs.

Continuing our reviews of the 1977 run of Marvel Star Wars with a bunch of new additions to the site based on yesterdays review of, Marvel Star Wars Issue 7: New Planets, New Perils. Today we've added Crimson Jack, Jolli & Pera to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section, Bobtail bantha to the Star Wars D/6 Creatures Section, Aduba-3 to the Star Wars D/6 Planets Section, and the Sikurdian battle-axe to the Star Wars D/6 Weapons Section. The comics are turning out to be a true treasure trove of new content for the site.
