Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 14: The Doza Dilemma

We've just put up our review of the next episode of Resistance, Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 14: The Doza Dilemma. As usual the review has many spoilers, so if you don't want spoiled, all I can say is that this episode is one of the better ones to date, but that's still not great.

A few updates today based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 32: The Jawa Express. Today we've added the Omega Frost to the Star Wars D/6 Weapons Section, and Santhe/Sienar Technologies Reconnaissance Troop Transporter & Minicrawler to the Star Wars D/6 Vehicles Section of the Site.

And while I'm here, I might as well put the latest BeyondD6 Development vlog here.

A final few minutes playing the Anthem VIP Demo over the weekend, and what do I think?

Freddy plays: Anthem (part 2)

Anthem is an online multiplayer action role-playing video game being developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts.
Players assume the role of a Freelancer, one of a group of people who leave their civilization to explore the surrounding landscape.
Anthem combines third-person shooter and action role-playing game elements in a "contiguous open world" shared with up to three other players in which they take the role of a Freelancer donning fully customizable exosuits called Javelins. These suits can be customized to have various unique weapons and superhuman abilities.
This is my second play session, where I complete the first mission, and explore the hub city.

West End Games D6 System: Second Edition

Not really sure what to make of this, as updating a rule system doesn't really mean that much to most of us. But on the 1st of January 2019, Gallant Knight Games announced that they're going to release a Second Edition of the D6 system. You can read more here.
What they haven't said is a Second Edition of which version of the D6 system, Ghostbusters, Star Wars 1st, 2nd, 2R+E, Xena, Men in Black, D6 Space, Adventure and Fantasy, or even OpenD6 ? ? ?
The closest I can guess is that it will be a sequel to 1996's "The D6 System: The Customizable Roleplaying Game".
Will it be compatible with any of the other versions? What does this mean for OpenD6? Is this really just a cash grab to bring D6 back into a licensable version? I'm afraid they've just not said enough yet.
But, I'll be watching and will keep you updated.

Retro RPG: Bushido

Bushido is a Samurai role-playing game set in Feudal Japan, originally designed by Robert N. Charrette and Paul R. Hume and published originally by Tyr Games then Phoenix Games and subsequently by Fantasy Games Unlimited. The setting for the game is a land called Nippon and characters adventure in this heroic, mythic and fantastic analogue of Japan's past. It was the first non-Western game besides Empire of the Petal Throne.
Bushido is the earliest published RPG set in the Orient. It was praised for its features, but often criticized for its complexity, a common refrain when discussing games from FGU.

Freddy plays: Anthem VIP Demo

Some very good friends were good enough to send me out one of the VIP invitations for the new Bioware game Anthem.
It's not something I do, but here's me having a play of it.
The official site describes it as "Upon an unfinished world, humanity struggles to survive in a savage environment full of diverse threats. Equipped with incredible Javelin exosuits, a faction known as the Freelancers seeks to tip the balance in mankind’s favor."

Top Five: Best Episodes of Star Wars Clone Wars

Hi and welcome back to RPGGamer's TOP 5, and this time we'd like to count down the five best episodes of the Star Wars: Clone Wars Series.
Over on the site as part of our Star Wars reviews, we watched and rated every episode, and these come out at the 5 highest scoring episodes, and with a bit of a refresher we've sorted them into order.
Now obviously this just our opinion, and equally obviously there's going to be spoilers through, so don't watch if you don't want the episodes spoiled.

Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 13: Dangerous Business

Well, catching up with Resistance since I failed to notice it starting back up after it's holiday break, today I'm reviewing Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 13: Dangerous Business. The spoiler free review as always, it's not getting any better, the characters aren't likable, the plot isn't plausible, and it's just not a lot of fun. There is however, the smallest spark of growth, but I hope it's not too little too late for this series.

A bunch of additions to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review of, Marvel Star Wars Issue 28: What Ever Happened to Jabba the Hut?. Today we've added, Stone mite to the Star Wars D/6 Creatures Section, The Voidraker to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section, Umbrella wand & Laser-borer to the Star Wars D/6 Equipment Section, and Proton grenade to to the Star Wars D/6 Weapons Section of the Site.

Freddy

PS:- I just noticed we've hit all the 5's today, with 5555 stats across all of the sections, not a hyper important milestone, but I liked the coincidence of it (if there had been any more or less additions today we wouldn't be sitting exactly on the number).

Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 12: Bibo

Well, it's back, and although I took an additional couple of days to notice, here's my review of Star Wars Resistance: Season 1 Episode 12: Bibo.
The spoiler free review is basically it's nearer to what the trailers promised than we've ever had before, but the episode promises more than it delivers, with an obvious twist and more of the same poor characterisation and scripting we've seen so often before in Resistance.

Retro RPG: Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is the first edition rule/source book for the Warhammer 40,000 miniature wargame by Games Workshop.
Created by Rick Priestly, The gameplay of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader differs from its main modern-day descendant, in that it was heavily role-play-oriented, with great detail placed on weaponry and vehicles and the inclusion of a third player (the Game Master) in battles, a role not dissimilar from the Dungeon Master of Dungeons and Dragons. Rogue Trader introduced some races that were later removed from the setting, such as Squats (Warhammer dwarfs in space), Zoats (also present in Warhammer Fantasy Battle) and the Space Slann (a humanoid frog-like race).

Retro RPG: Chainsaw Warrior

Chainsaw Warrior is a single-player board game designed by Stephen Hand and published by Games Workshop in 1987.
The player has sixty minutes to navigate a labyrinth composed of an abandoned urban slum in New York, represented by two decks of cards, locate the entity Darkness attempting to destroy the city and kill it. The slum contains hazards, zombies, mutants and other creatures affected by Darkness, who will attempt to kill the player or slow him down. Failure to kill Darkness, either by running out of time, dying of injuries, or succumbing to zombie venom/radiation poisoning, results in a loss for the player.
A video game based on the board game was released for mobile and desktop platforms.

A few additions to the site today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 22: To the Last Gladiator, Today we've added The Spoilt Sport to the Star Wars D/6 Starships Section, Tyluun Night-Soarer to the Star Wars D/6 Races Section and Needle ray to the Star Wars D/6 Weapons Section of the Site.

Given that The Spoilt Sport is a Senatorial Ship used some 20 years before The Phantom Menace was written, and has a reflective golden hull in a very similar fashion to the Naboo Ships used in the movies, it fits in remarkably well into the official universe.

Only one update today, based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 21: Shadow of a Dark Lord. Today we've added Captain Mulchive Wermis to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section of the Site.

I have to admit a certain soft spot for Wermis, all due to his very first lines spoken to Darth Vader.

"Well, you're the expert on metaphysics - The Force and All that - but it sounds a bit vague to be tying up my technicians, dear boy"

BeyondD6 Beta Testing

Back in september, I put out a call for anyone who wanted to beta test the system we're putting together allowing online play of Star Wars D/6, BeyondD6.

And WOW! Before I shut down the request, there were 800 applications.

Which was incredible. Now I selected around 30 play testers and let them loose on the system, and after some early feedback which helped us eliminate some issues, things have definitely settled down.

The system is still far from complete, but is usable at the moment, and after discussions within our team (okay much of it was a discussion with myself, but I did reach out for other opinions), we've decided to reopen the beta programme to others. We'll be sending out the screening survey in the next few days to the 770 people who applied but weren't contacted by us, and the form is now open again on the front page of BeyondD6.

So, if you're interested at all in taking part, then drop your name/email into the form on the front page of BeyondD6.com, and we'll be in touch.

A wee bunch of additions today, all based on the subject of yesterdays review, Marvel Star Wars Issue 20: Deathgame. Today we've added the Wheel Security Force to the Star Wars D/6 Characters Section, Airflow car to the Star Wars D/6 Vehicles Section, Auto-med couch to the Star Wars D/6 Equipment Section, and the Power Mace & Shield and Dagger thorn to the Star Wars D/6 Weapons Section of the Site.

Out of all of these the Auto-med couch is definitely my favourite, as it's basically an immobile medical droid in the form of a bed, which makes a lot of sense in the setting.
